Queer Wave Coffee (QWC): By Queer People, For Queer People and Those Who Love Queer People
QWC was founded in August 2020 by Cheyenne Xochitl Love (She/Her), an Indigenous Two-Spirit Non Binary Trans Girl. Cheyenne has decades of experience in the coffee industry and has experienced the exploitative nature of
the industry, as well as capitalism, throughout her life. She is not interested in maintaining the current paradigm of business operations of profit for individual gain. She has manifested a coffee company rooted in heart-felt, anti-oppressive work, connecting communities together. QWC devalues the constructs that uphold oppressive systems and takes a stand against transphobia, homophobia, queerphobia, racism, jerks, fatphobia, patriarchy, capitalism, law enforcement and the like.
QWC is currently seeking funding for a physical space, for community to gather, without the restraint of loans or investors that only lend for profit. People can support QWC by donating to their Kickstarter campaign (https://tinyurl.com/ryywtuwh) and their time and expertise. QWC is seeking those with skills in these areas and more:
- Marketing, including consumer/public relations and social media
- Help with alternative funding and grants
- Legal expertise in establishing and maintaining expansive business models and in anti-capitalistic efforts
- Information Technology, including web design and eCommerce platforms
- Sales, including B2B and B2C
- Supply chain and partners, to join our effort
- Sustainability and environmental experts
Supporting QWC is not just for those who personally identify with Cheyenne and QWC’s vision. It is an opportunity for white, cis gendered, straight people of privilege to consciously invest in a transformative effort. It is a way to take action and invest in an endeavor that is making a difference today, tomorrow, and for the future.
“I'm SO EXCITED about this project! I've been drinking this coffee for over half a year now, and I love having a cup that has nothing to do with the exploitative coffee industry, and everything to do with community, decolonization and pure queer magic.” -Ronja Ver
