WE ARE NOT A "ALL INCLUSIVE" ORGANIZATION
We proudly exclude white supremacy, patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia,
ableism, law enforcement, racism, misogyny, xenophobia, adult supremacy and all the systems that uphold them.
We know we are doing it right when the white business man says we aren't.
Coffee was stolen from Ethiopia and smuggled throughout the equator by colonial men. Indigenous people were forced to grow coffee under the power and benefit of white plantation owners. How do we do work to decolonize coffee? Why is this such a hard idea to accomplish? Well, we can start by disrupting the colonial supply chain. Where you put your $ is a huge factor of putting this change in motion. Capitalism listens to where money lands. A majority of the coffee industry continues to be controlled by straight cis white men along with everything else in this paradigm. It's impossible to make any change by supporting those in power. We need to be vocal about these atrocities and take direct action by consciously looking into all that we do. Influence others by making changes. Every bit counts.
Queer Wave Coffee is cultivated and harvested in Honduras by the Lenca People. It's roasted on Chochenyo Ohlone Land (pre-colonized Oakland California) by an Indigenous Two Spirit Trans Girl. We work toward living and running our businesses in a way that disrupts the colonial supply chain.
Support your local coffee roaster if you feel good about their business practices, ideas and bring good politics to your cup. If they don't, we are here for you.
